Ananya Panday, who has been receiving praise for her performance in Vikramaditya Motwane’s CTRL, shared that she took inspiration from her cousin Alanna Panday and her husband Ivor for her role as a social media influencer. In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ananya revealed that watching her cousin and Ivor, who vlog extensively about their lives, helped her prepare for the character.
Ananya explained that Alanna and Ivor document everything on their YouTube channel, from their relationship to their wedding, pregnancy, and life with their baby. This provided her with a “close-to-home” reference for understanding the sacrifices involved in living life as a public figure.
She also mentioned the input from Sumukhi Suresh, who was part of the writing team and contributed her knowledge of influencers to shape the role.
In CTRL, Ananya plays Nella, one half of an influencer couple with her boyfriend Joe. After discovering Joe’s infidelity, she uses an AI app to erase him from her life, but the app starts to take control in unexpected ways.
Meanwhile, Alanna Panday is starring in The Tribe, a show produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment, which follows a group of Indian influencers aiming for global fame in Los Angeles. The cast includes Alaviaa Jaaferi, Srushti Porey, Aryaana Gandhi, Alfia Jafry, and Hardik Zaveri.
