Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav seized the Orange Cap after smashing a 28-ball 54 against Lucknow Super Giants, helping MI post 215/7 in their IPL 2025 match at Wankhede Stadium.
Yadav’s powerful innings pushed him to the top of the Orange Cap standings with 427 runs in 10 innings. Mumbai Indians went on to defeat LSG by 54 runs.
Nicholas Pooran, who started the game with 377 runs, scored 27 off 15 balls and moved up to third in the Orange Cap race, overtaking Virat Kohli. Kohli now stands fourth with 392 runs and will have an opportunity to climb the rankings when Royal Challengers Bengaluru face Delhi Capitals.
Speaking during the mid-innings break, Yadav said, “It’s the first time I am wearing this (Orange Cap) after a long time, feels really special. Scoring over 200 runs in such heat is great for us. The wicket is a bit slow and will be challenging for their batting lineup.”
