Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 Counselling: Last Day to Register for Round 1

The Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, will close the registration for round 1 of Maharashtra NEET PG 2024 counselling today. Students who have not yet registered are advised to complete the process by 11:59 pm on the official portal, medical2024.mahacet.org. NEET PG is held for admissions to postgraduate medical courses following MBBS and BDS, with results announced by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) on August 23.

As per the NEET PG counselling schedule, the deadline for payment of the registration and security fees is October 3. The registration fee is Rs 3,000. For government medical colleges, the security fee is Rs 25,000 without any constitutional reservation, while for private colleges, it is Rs 1 lakh. Candidates with reservations will need to pay Rs 12,500 for government institutions and Rs 1 lakh for private ones.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is expected to hear a plea related to NEET PG on October 4. The plea, filed by Ishika Jain and other aspirants, challenges the exam pattern set by the National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences (NBEMS). The petition seeks the release of NEET PG 2024 answer keys, question papers, and the standardisation of marks due to the test being split into two parts.

Representing the petitioners, Senior Advocate Vibha Datta Makhija and Advocate Tanvi Dubey stated that NBEMS made last-minute changes to the exam format. Students have raised concerns about unexpectedly low rankings this year, as the exam was conducted in two shifts instead of the usual single-shift format. To address this, NBE employed a normalisation process for the scoring.
