CBSE Board Exams 2025: 44 Lakh Students Expected; CCTV Installation Made Mandatory

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has mandated the installation of CCTV cameras in all examination halls for the 2025 Class 10 and 12 board exams. In a notification sent to school principals and heads of affiliated institutions, the Board stated that exams will only be conducted in rooms equipped with CCTV surveillance. Schools lacking fixed cameras will not be considered suitable venues for the exams.

With around 44 lakh students expected to appear for the board exams, CBSE has introduced this policy to ensure the exams are conducted fairly and securely. The cameras must be of high resolution to ensure clear visibility of student activities and examination materials. Additionally, schools must retain the recordings for at least two months following the announcement of results, allowing the Board to review the footage if necessary. Only authorized personnel will have access to the recordings.

The cameras must feature dynamic monitoring capabilities, including options for pan, tilt, and zoom, to provide comprehensive coverage. Schools are responsible for the cost of installing and maintaining the surveillance systems, as CBSE will not bear any expenses.

CBSE has advised schools to inform parents and students about the decision and their rights during the exams, using various communication channels such as orientation sessions, handbooks, and notice boards. Schools are also encouraged to seek feedback from students, staff, and exam officials to identify areas for improvement. Each examination center will have one designated monitor for every 10 rooms or 240 students to ensure the smooth conduct of the exams.
