Heretic Trailer: Hugh Grant Stars in A24’s Chilling Theological Horror Film

Directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the latest trailer for Heretic has been released, along with an updated release date for the highly anticipated horror film. A24, known for its groundbreaking arthouse horror, is adding another title to its roster with Heretic, starring Hugh Grant.

The film’s logline reveals that it blends themes of religion and faith, centering on two missionaries, Sister Barnes (Sophie Thatcher) and Sister Paxton (Chloe East), who become ensnared in a life-threatening game after encountering the sinister Mr. Reed. In the trailer, Grant, best known for his romantic roles in the ’90s, plays against type as he lures the missionaries into his menacing games, delivering plenty of scares for both the characters and the audience.

Heretic premiered last month at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it received glowing reviews, with particular praise for Grant’s chilling performance. Beck and Woods, the duo behind A Quiet Place, also revealed a revised release date in the new trailer. Initially set for November 15, the film will now be released globally on November 8.
