A fortnight after the tragic passing of her stepfather, Anil Mehta, Bollywood actor and television personality Malaika Arora, along with her family, attended a prayer meet in his memory at a Gurudwara in Santacruz, Mumbai. The ceremony, held on Monday, was attended by close family members and friends.
Malaika was joined by her son Arhaan Khan, her mother Joyce Polycarp, her sister Amrita Arora, Amrita’s husband Shakeel Ladak, and their children. Several friends from the industry, including Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sussanne Khan, were also present to offer their condolences. Notably, Malaika’s rumoured boyfriend, Arjun Kapoor, was spotted at the Gurudwara, drawing attention online amid speculations of their breakup.
Anil Mehta reportedly died by suicide on September 11, after falling from the sixth floor of a residential building in Bandra, Mumbai. Despite being rushed to Bhabha Hospital, doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. The incident left the family devastated.
In a heartfelt social media post following her stepfather’s death, Malaika wrote, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect.” The message was signed by Malaika and her family, expressing their gratitude for the support received during their loss.
