India Announces $500,000 Scholarship for Indo-Pacific Engineering Students

India has unveiled a new initiative to offer fifty Quad scholarships, totaling $500,000, for students from the Indo-Pacific region to pursue a four-year undergraduate engineering program at a Government of India-funded technical institution.

The announcement highlights India’s commitment to fostering educational ties and enhancing regional collaboration. The Quad partners praised the expansion of the Quad Infrastructure Fellowships, which now includes over 2,200 experts, with more than 1,300 fellowships already awarded since last year’s summit. Additionally, the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure in India held a workshop aimed at strengthening power sector resilience across the Indo-Pacific.

The Quad’s declaration emphasized its dedication to reinforcing long-standing relationships between its members and partners. The Quad Fellowship is central to this goal, building a network of future leaders in science, technology, and policy. For the first time, the program will also include students from ASEAN countries. The Government of Japan is supporting the Quad Fellows to study in Japan, and private sector partners, such as Google, the Pratt Foundation, and Western Digital, are providing further support for the next cohort of fellows.
