In an exclusive interview, Krushna Abhishek opened up about the new season of The Great Indian Kapil Show, which premiered on September 22. Krushna discussed the show’s strong start and the deep bond shared among the cast, developed over many years of working together. He also acknowledged Sunil Grover’s return to the Netflix show, noting its significant positive impact.
Reflecting on his long-standing relationship with Kapil Sharma, Krushna said, “People think our journey together started with Kapil’s show, but we go way back to Comedy Circus. It’s been an amazing experience. There’s a special magic in this show, and the mutual respect we have for each other’s talents is evident.”
When asked about the potential return of Sumona Chakraborty and Bharti Singh, Krushna jokingly suggested that Netflix would be the best source for that information. He also praised Sunil Grover, emphasizing how his comeback has been a game-changer for the show: “Sunil’s unique style of comedy is very different from mine, Kapil’s, and Kiku’s. His return brought back a fanbase we had missed.”
Krushna also touched on his rapport with Archana Puran Singh, noting that despite the jokes often made at her expense, she has never taken offense and enjoys the humor both on and off-camera.
He concluded by discussing the popularity of his characters, Sapna and Mona, on the show. “Characters don’t become hits overnight,” he explained. “It takes time to refine and develop them. The idea of a massage parlor hadn’t been done on TV before, and it worked well. I love playing these characters, and we all have a lot of fun doing it.”
