Meta Introduces New AI Video Features to Enhance Ads on Facebook and Instagram

Meta has launched new generative AI video tools that allow advertisers to modify ads on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. These new features, such as Video Expansion and Image Animation, are part of Meta’s expanding suite of AI-powered advertising tools.

In a blog post on October 8, Meta announced that the features are being rolled out and will be widely available by early next year. The Video Expansion tool enables advertisers to generate unseen pixels in each video frame, expanding the aspect ratio of video ads. Additionally, AI can be used to animate static images, making ads more dynamic. For instance, strawberries around a jar of jam can be made to appear as if they are floating.

Advertisers can also now upload an influencer’s image as the ‘hero image’ in a collection of ads on Ads Manager, with a dual-header format to engage audiences by leveraging creator content.

Meta also revealed that it is introducing a new Videos tab on Facebook, allowing users to explore Reels, live streams, and longer videos. This addition builds on Meta’s existing AI features, including full image and text generation for advertisers.

Tech companies like Amazon and TikTok are also moving towards AI-driven ad creation, while Google is reportedly testing AI-generated ads in its AI Overviews, summaries of search results.
